12,025. It’s not a particularly alluring number, a bit difficult to digest, visually unfathomable one could argue. And yet for all days going forward, this number, this number before all others, will represent to me the perfect sum.
It was 12,025 days ago that I first entered this world, and consequently, 12,025 days spent waiting to live through what one would jovially describe around a water cooler as “a perfect day”. A day free of ebbs and flows … a morning, afternoon, evening and night of ceaseless euphoria and boundless harmony.
At 5:39 p.m., I married the woman the universe conspired for me to navigate the second and third acts of my life with. Our ceremony was perfect. Not perfect for all intensive purposes … not damn near perfect … but the kind of PERFECT void of qualifiers. From the golden hills serving as the picturesque backdrop during our vows, to the grecian like weather humbly absolving pores from perspiring on a Napa summer day, I simply could not have asked for a more majestic July 3.
As my bride exited the Monticello estate arm-in-arm with her father, the marvelous wonders flowing beneath the often cruel tides of life finally revealed themselves. As Matt Costa’s voice gently guided us through “Eyes For You”, I felt a powerful sense of serenity overcome me, nestling my wife and I in its graceful embrace, allowing us to collectively exhale. As Kevin Frazier spoke of a boy from South Central Los Angeles and a girl from rural Denmark uniting, the universe’s knack for delivering the spoils found in the pages of the best Paulo Coehlo novel became reality. And as we exchanged our vows, eye to eye, hand-in-hand, trepidation remained the only uninvited guest at our soiree of romantic cohesion.
Below are pictures from the wedding of Trine & Eric Berry. They are images crafted out of love, taken by people who love us of all those who, for one day, got to experience what we also hope, was the magic 12,025.
Thank you Kevin, Steve and Hagop for these beautiful images. Thank you Trinity and Steven for your remarkable investment in planning this fitting ceremony in a such magical destination. Thank you to Matt Costa for bringing your love of love to our ceremony and performing for us. And lastly, thank you to my in-laws for raising such a graceful, beautiful, thoughtful, loving and giving daughter, my wife, Trine Berry.
