Brooklyn Botanic Garden

1 Minute Read Comments are off

This morning I woke up and set out to explore my borough a bit. The first stop on my tour of Brooklyn was the picturesque Botanic Garden. The walk there from my place in Park Slope is about 30 minutes, with roughly 15 of those through Prospect Park. It was an easy walk, accompanied by the sounds of John Mayer’s new album, Born & Raised, but I did have to watch the clock; that’s because the garden is free before noon.

I’ve always had an extremely difficult time photographing plants and flowers, and today was no different. Still, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden contains so many different species of plants, trees and flowers, that I was bound to capture something worth posting. Most of the shots featured in this post were taken inside the Aquatic House and Tropical Pavilion. The vegetation inside both places created a cinematic lighting effect on nearly every planet I snapped pictures of.

That being said, my favorite of the exhibits was the desert pavilion, but I didn’t feel inspired to take any pictures inside.
